Five things to love about Kata M3

I was excited when I got hold of the Kata M3 on May 6, 2015 from Kata Philippines. However, the unit that we had was an engineering unit, that means it is not yet the final unit that will come out in the market. We reviewed it with the disclosure that what we had is not yet the final unit.

I got hold of the commercial unit last week and it was only last Saturday when I started using it as my daily driver.

I thought of listing out few compelling reasons why you should get hold of the Kata M3.

Large display

The 5.5-inch HD display with 720 x 1280 provides you large and bright display. Viewing your favorite apps and even websites that are optimized for mobile viewing is very pleasing to the eyes. Playing games like UFC makes it more fun with a screen like what Kata M3 has.

Long battery life

Seven hours up and running but still has 48% battery life. Credit goes to the large 3,300mAH removable battery. I turned on my M3 at 8AM alternately turning on data connectivity and WiFi. I turn on mobile data when I went to a meeting for about 2 hours, back to WiFi mode while in my home office. I turned on data again when I went to the bank, that is around half an hour.

With the remaining 48% at 5:30PM already, you can still play games, update your Facebook, do some more Tweets and IG. When its time for you to sleep at 11PM, it will be the best time to re-charge your M3.

Camera

Aside from battery life and decent performance of a smartphone, we always look forward to the camera. This is because we want to eliminate another device for documenting our activities. And more so, people like to take selfie shots and post them immediately on their social media channels. Kata M3 has 16 megapixel camera at the back which is enough to shoot decent photos. In front, is 8 megapixel camera with wide angle lens.

Refer to my Kata M3 photography blog post here.

But if you wish not to leave this page, here are few of the photos I took recently out of my Kata M3. All these photos are straight out of the camera.

No bloatware(s)

Kata is the only smartphone brand that don’t install a lot of unnecessary apps in their smartphone. Yes, they have home-grown apps like Contacts and Wipe Out, but that’s it. No more space-eating apps so you enjoy the internal storage for all your photos, files, and your favorite apps only.

Global warranty

Say, whut?! Global warranty by Kata? Hmmmm. My source said, Kata will implement this very, very soon. So, if you bought your Kata smartphone in the US and something went wrong while you are in Manila. Bring it to the authorized store in the city where you are currently in and it will be taken cared of. Way to go, Kata! That is customer service at its best!

Bonus: Kata M3 is OTG-enabled

When micro-SD card is not enough for your additional storage, taking the storage to another level is better with an OTG-enabled smartphone. Kata M3 has OTG feature which means, you can watch movies, or transfer files from any external storage as long as you have a micro-USB port. Thank you Kata for this!

Oh by the way, Kata M3’s capacitive buttons are illuminated. Not all smartphones has this feature, even those who are top brands. That means using the phone in low light or in the evening is easy.

Conclusion

Kata M3 is already out in the market. Priced at only P9,499, M3 is still one of the affordable smartphone in the market today. It is also back with a great customer support. Kata has installed physical stores almost nationwide to make sure they reach the buying public and they get to hold and touch the actual units before they spend hard-earned money.
