LG G4 Unboxing and Initial Impressions

The much anticipated, and the original brand who introduced the double tap feature to turn on and off the display of a smartphone, is with us today ahead of the Philippine launch on Thursday.

LG Philippines sent us the Korean version to quickly evaluate it. The LG G4 Korean version has the same processor, RAM, and camera. The only difference is that the Korean variant employs a single-SIM and has no FM radio. Other than that everything inside are the same.

LG G4 is the smartphone you will flaunt with your Louis Vuitton bag and accessories. It looks so expensive specially the variant that has leather back cover.

The genuine leather back cover with a signature stitching at the middle is quite impressive and adds more luxurious look to it.

LGG4-K-107LG has retained the positions of the original power button, volume rocker and camera at the back, allowing no more buttons to press around the edge of the G4. The only ports you will see are the 3.5mm audio  and the micro-USB ports at the bottom part.

As premium as it looks, the G4 comes with an ordinary box, unlike the packaging of the Oppo R5 and Oppo N3, the G4 has an unassuming packaging. Very simple presentation until you open box.

Inside the package are your usual stuff — the wall charger, the microUSB cable, a QuadBeat 3 earphones, and the LG G4 user guide. That’s it.

The slightly curved G4 similar to the LG G Flex and G Flex 2 is something the people will look forward too, including me. Most the smartphones today employs the same design — flat display — same old style for a while now.

Here are some photos of the LG G4 with leather back casing for your appreciation.

The camera that shoots in manual mode

The camera of the G4 should also excite people who are into photography. Mobile photography will be different now because G4 has enabled a manual shooting feature of the 16MP camera with OIS and F1.8 lens. It is interesting to know that you can only change the following — ISO, shutter speed, focus (yes you can do manual focusing) and white balance. You can’t change the value of the aperture, it is fixed at F1.8.

Here are sample shots of the G4. By the way, it snaps photos so fast! And the colors and sharpness are great.

With manual settings, I can change the white balance, ISO and the shutter speed. In this photo above, I used manual focus, making other parts of the photo out of focus.

The front camera that has 8MP and F/2.0 aperture takes superb selfie images too. It has beautification level that will no longer require post-processing.

We only had a day to test the G4, but I am truly excited. I skipped the Note 4 and G3 altogether waiting for my next Globe postpaid smartphone, but with G4, I am lining up immediately and renewing my postpaid plan to get the G4 with leather back casing.

I hope I can get LG G4 immediately so that I can share a full review before you guys line up and buy your own LG G4.
