Samsung’s latest in the Note series have been launched likewise in the Philippines today. We were there to cover the local event and let us share with our hands-on review of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
Here are some of the features that are sure interesting about the newest flagship of the Korean brand. This will surely justify the local pricing.
Unlock the Galaxy Note 7 using your eyes
Samsung implemented technology what we only see on movies. Galaxy Note 7 is the firstSamsung device to use IRIS SCANNING. Yes, you can now use your eyes to unlock your smartphone, secure a secret folder, and securely login to a website without having to put on the password. This is a proprietary algorithm developed by Samsung.
While the IRIS SCANNING seems to be an awesome feature, I hope the fingerprint sensor won’t get jealous. In case you have doubts about the new technology, the fingerprint scanner is still there to assist you.
Huge storage and more
Should you complain that a 64G built-in storage is still not enough for your daily selfie shots then a microSD support will surely please you. You can add up to 256G as external storage.

Quick charging: wired and wireless
Samsung finally employed USB Type C. Finally. Now this allows quick charging using the new port and it will not be named as a flagship device without best features. Galaxy Note 7 has wireless charging that can charge the 3,500mAH non-removable battery from zero to full in just 95 minutes. The Galaxy Note 7 is also the first to use USB Type C.

Hybrid SIM tray
This is the Philippines, therefore a dual SIM is always expected, so is the Galaxy Note 7. One Nano and the other is the hybrid micro SIM and/or micro SD support. Should you use both SIM slots, they are all 4G/LTE Cat. 12.
Why the 12MP camera?
Simple. The camera on the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are simply the best. And there is no need to do some re-engineering in the Galaxy Note 7.
The NEW S-Pen
The new S-Pen’s tip is now just .7mm compared to the previous version which is 1.6mm. AND the former issue with the Note 5’s S Pen that can be accidentally inserted the wrong way and get stuck inside is no longer a problem. Trust us, we tested it several times.

IP68 Water Resistant including the S Pen, but….
You don’t have to worry if you get wet if it rains while you are outdoors and you are using your Galaxy Note 7. It will stop and die. And even the S Pen is now IP68 certified.
But the device is simply unusable when you are literally under the rain. When water drops on the gorgeous large display, the screen goes wild. Watch our hands-on video to fully understand this.
But yes, the IP68 is really a huge factor in this flagship device.
