Lenovo A6000 Plus Review

Lenovo outed a mini version of the A7000 Plus before the year 2015 ended. The A6000 Plus, is only a smaller version but has the same features, functions, but with a slower CPU. The UI is the same, the camera has a smaller megapixel, but with a battery that lasted for three days. We used this phone for more than a week and today, we’d like to share with your our user experience.

Build and construction

The A6000 Plus gets the same build and construction as the A7000 and A7000 Plus. Solid build with plastic removable back cover. The accessories found inside the box are the same as you will find in the previous models.

Shout out to Lenovo for including two (2) freebies in the package. It is always appreciated by a buying Pinoy to get free items from the purchase. Lenovo included a plastic casing and a screen protector.

Where are the buttons?

Up top are the micro-USB and the 3.5mm audio port.

When you flip it, you will find the 8MP camera with LED flash on the left side of the A6000 Plus.

At the bottom, you will find the capacitive buttons which do not illuminate therefore you have memorize which is the back and the menu button.

Notice also that it is not the standard button which is widely used in all Android smartphones today.

Lenovo A6000 Plus Software and UI

You’ll get the same UI with the A7000 Plus, nothing is new here. Basic looks with unsorted apps is what you get with the Android 5 Lollipop. Don’t look for the app drawer because Lenovo has removed it. You have to do your own homework by arranging the apps by your own category. Built-in apps are also included when you pull down the settings menu — APN switch and Flashlights are there when you need it for a quick draw.

The default keyboard looks neat also, but if you are like me that hates auto-fill and auto-correct, you have to customize it in the Language and Input menu.

If you get bored with the default theme, you can pull few others which are pre-installed already.

Lenovo A6000 Plus Battery

I ‘d like to commend Lenovo for putting up a long battery life. In the screen grab below you will see a 4% battery and notice that it has been alive for three days already. That is no magic there! All you need to do is to turn off the WiFi in the evening a

That is no magic there! All you need to do is to turn off the WiFi in the evening.

Take note that the next two days there is merely stand-by mode. But hey, it will be very useful when you need to use your phone for important calls.

Audio

The dual speakers at the back gave a clear and loud sound for audio playback. Calls are crisp and no isues whatsoever.

Conclusion

The Lenovo A6000 Plus is your alternative smartphone if you do not like the bigger brother A7000 or A7000 Plus. With the downgraded specs but similar looks, the A6000 Plus will deliver your basic smartphone needs — from social media, calls and text, basic games, and emails.

We can only think of one downside: SRP. We can only wish that the retail price is less than P6k.
